Our Blog

My name is Bruce Caukin.

I want every listener to experience the excitement I had when hearing KPFK people. I bought the cassettes of John Judge who recorded, “Who Killed the Dreamer”, suggesting Dr. King was not killed by James Earl Ray. I met Russ Baker, an author, his book; “Family of Secrets” highlights H W Bush, who joined the CIA in 1953. I met Hank Albarelli who wrote “A Terrible Mistake……”. Albarelli makes the argument that Frank Olson was pushed out the window of a CIA safe house rather than jumping due to LSD. By going HD, KPFK can reach a bigger audience. My ex-wife is from Puerto Rico which persuades me we need out reach to Latinos, but also more programming. Subjects to cover so listeners can evaluate our government should be topics like: re-evaluate the crash of TWA FLT 800, which was damaged by 3 missiles. We need to know why nano-thermite was found at WTC 7, a collapsed building not hit by a plane. We should probe the veracity of Pakistan’s Ms. Bhutto’s claim: Osama Bin Laden died in December 2001. I am a retired LAUSD teacher.

KPFK needs a bigger listening audience. The question is how to accomplish this task. I think the answer is to have digital broadcasting with a second signal, in the HD format. What kind of material would go on the HD channel? Michael Ruppert is now dead, but I heard about him on KPFK and went to his talk on Sunset Boulevard. From that first encounter I learned of his paper, “From the Wilderness”. Subsequently he wrote “Crossing The Rubicon” regarding 9-11. KPFK needs to find dynamic people like Michael, and help them reach an audience hungry for information. Sibel Edmonds would be a great guest. She translated for the FBI, and reported a Turkish translator doing incorrect translations in a time period after 9-11. Sibel was let go, and has been called the most “gagged” woman in America. She has since written “Gladio”. I think KPFK is useful in the class room—I often played sections (audio-visual) of Amy Goodman’s “Democracy Now”. I would ask KPFK to go to the left of “Democracy Now”, and deal with the assassination of JFK; and also explain all the unreliable facts in the government’s account of 9-11. Before the Pentagon wall fell, there was an alleged 16’ hole in the wall—more a missile than a plane. Over 80 cameras and the government release 4 slides. The Pentagon is the most defended building in America.

Optional Questions (push the plus sign to see the answers)

In what ways are the station moving in a positive direction, that you would want to continue or perhaps improve?
It is admirable that there is a reach out to the Spanish population. I think 4 nights might be enough.
As listed below, we need to move to the left to cover some very important issues that are effecting our Constitutional freedoms/rights.

In what ways are the station moving in a negative direction, that you would want to stop or change? What changes would you work for?
The listening audience/membership is in decline. In my 200 and 500 word statements I listed topics that could very well increase listener interest, I feel the station has to move to the left to cover:
9-11; the JFK assassination, the date of the death of Osama Bin Laden, the implications of JADE HELM-15; and discuss implications of the Patriotic Act like the lock down of Boston after the bombing.

What key experience, connections, skills or traits would you bring to the Local Station Board to advance the station's mission?
I have taught about 32 years in the public schools. From March 1982 to 2011 I taught at LAUSD. In LA and other districts I have taught driver training; industrial arts; and social studies. I was a Coast Guard Aviation Cadet at Naval Aviation Schools Command (1973) at NAS Pensacola, and a Student Naval Aviator at NAS Saufley Field, but did not attain my Navy Gold Wings.

What ideas do you have for helping the station and the Pacifica Foundation meet the financial challenges currently being faced?
This is a tough question………….if our programming included more topics like I mentioned above, and in my statements, we might attain more members. I know there are listeners who want more than MSNBC or FOX. They want news that is not like Project Mocking Bird–given to newsmen by the CIA.

I would like to be your representative at KPFK. I believe I can work successfully with other board members, and deal with the problems of running a radio station, Please make this election count by voting—the last election did not have a quorum.

So, what do you think ?
