I am a long-time listener of WBAI and rely on it for news, background information and entertainment. The station is a vital and important resource for its listeners and provides information that cannot be found elsewhere. Especially in these times we need the alternative BAI provides. I would seek to attract a more diverse listenership by airing more podcasts that could bring in a younger audience. I have been involved with New Jersey Peace Action, Women's Pentagon Action, Occupy Wall Street and organized a housing conference with my OWS group. As an activist I want to be able to provide input on the issues affecting the station and for the upcoming by-law amendments. I feel I can make contributions to the station by joining fundraising/ finance committees and to set up possible phone banking for fundraising. WBAI and Pacifica are community and national resources that supply necessary knowledge and information on issues critical for the day. They were the only station that provided thorough coverage during the trial of the officers who killed Sean Bell. Its entertainment programs also rate a shout out..
