Please be advised that there will NOT be an election for either the Listener or Staff categories for the WPFW Local Station Board in 2015.

Given that there are only 7 certified candidates to fill 9 Listener seats and 2 certified candidates to fill 3 Staff seats, the WPFW Local Station Board supported the National Election Supervisor’s suggestion to follow California Corporations’ Code and seat the nominated candidates.

The WPFW-LSB discussed the matter at its meeting held on September 21, 2015 and the matter was also put on the agenda for the Pacifica National Board on September 24, 2015 in which the following motion was passed;

Whereas the National election supervisor, Ms. L Joy Williams has advised; in consideration of California Corporation Code Section 5522. :

“…(d)  If after the close of nominations the number of people nominated for the board is not more than the number of directors to be elected, the corporation may without further action declare that those nominated and qualified to be elected have been elected…”

that those certified candidates nominated for the LSB’s delegate seats in which the number of certified candidates is not  more than the number of delegates to be elected; that those certified candidates be declared elected to the delegate seats; and

Whereas, declaring these certified candidates elected would greatly reduce the cost of elections to the Local Stations and the Foundation;

Therefore, I move that the PNB declare elected those certified candidates nominated to the Local Station Board delegate seats in which the number of certified candidates are fewer than the number of delegates to be elected.  These delegates terms will began December 2015 as stated in the bylaws.

The WPFW Local Station Board will set a meeting to officially seat the nominated candidates and will fill remaining vacancies at the end of 2015 as defined in Article 4, Section 10, of the Pacifica Bylaws.
