I am running for the LSB to represent the best interests of the staff, volunteers and listeners. I have no interest in groups, philosophies, or any specific community that would benefit from my participation. My only interest is to cultivate journalistic integrity and financial sustainability for WBAI and Pacifica.
- In what ways are the station moving in a positive direction, that you would want to continue or perhaps improve? Complete Broadcasting and Recording Studios. Re-establish the program council. Return respect for professionalism and creative efforts, and engage policies that support professionalism to all broadcast staff & engineers.
- In what ways are the station moving in a negative direction, that you would want to stop or change? What changes would you work for? Reduce negative influence of LSB and PNB factionalism which undermines professional standards and contributes to management instability. Would replace use of Roberts Rules with other “non violent communication tools and add firewall between boards and management that will allow professional management without fear of factional reprisal.
- What key experience, connections, skills or traits would you bring to the Local Station Board to advance the station’s mission? 25 years, listener volunteer, 20 years unpaid producer 10 years Public Affairs Director, 6 years on LSB 5 years on PNB
- What ideas do you have for helping the station and the Pacifica Foundation meet the financial challenges currently being faced? Scarp by-laws, Return to Boards functioning in a professional manner. Require LSB and PNB to make efforts to fundraise. 1) To pay for their own expenses 2) To help raise funds for the station.
