Listener Candidate for the KPFK Local Station Board
Statement
My name is Elizabeth England. Hello and thank you for stopping for a moment to allow me to share. I'll keep it simple. I am a veteran for peace. I'm a consensus builder, an organizer and an activist supporting the Liberty Movement and the alternative health field.

My background is unusual and diverse. I'm a nature lover who's launched successful community organic gardens. I served 14 years in Army Civil Affairs and 3 years in the Air Force Chaplain Corps. I'm an 'oath keeper' to the Constitution with my eyes open. I had a health insurance career working with Seniors and Medicare. Another eye opener,. I'm a mother concerned about the future children will inherit and the desire to influence it positively. I have served on professional and non-profit boards. My current business is Longevity Pure Medicine, a homeopathic distributor.

I believe, we all need a bigger voice for the community and grass roots movements. KPFK's been a courageous leader, stepping into the fray in important ISSUES THAT AREN'T POPULAR UNTIL THEY BECOME MAINSTREAM.

KPFK is an important voice to the community, the region, the state and the country as a place for the thought leaders of human rights and community advocacy. Its esteemed history of peace making and advocacy is a great legacy.

But KPFK IS STRAYING from its legacy. IT'S NOT SERVING ITS LOYAL LISTENERS. But YOU ARE STILL GIVING to KPFK at the INCREASING number of FUND DRIVES when the programming you crave is played. At the fund drives. You still give and so will I.

Listenership is down 2/3s...TWO/THIRDS. That's a crisis, folks. Anybody willing to help KPFK back on course should be supported. PLEASE SUPPORT MY ELECTION. I NEED 100 votes and I AM ASKING YOU, Please Vote For Me. I PLEDGE to do all I can to get the station back on the course of serving YOU.

I support Board Plans for developing community supportive profit centers that will reduce or eliminate fund drives.
I support growing our listener base through responsiveness to their needs and requests.
I support stronger volunteer relationships and volunteer support.
I support growing the Local News Desk.

Answers to Candidate Questionnaire
1. In what ways is your station moving in a positive direction, that you would want to continue or perhaps improve?
  The board is working towards better support of community activism, responsible use of funds, and new funding sources, and regular programming that represents the issues that get funding during fund drive programming.
2. In what ways is your station moving in a negative direction, that you would want to stop or change? What changes would you work for?
  What is KPFK without you, the listener? The station must make a priority to and re-energize its listeners and recover the nearly 200,000 lost. Town Halls should be promoted to advance our listener base and support. I advocate expanded community news coverage and a return to programming that made KPFK a beacon of light.
3. What key experience, connections, skills or traits would you bring to the Local Station Board to advance the station’s mission?
  I have served on successful professional and community boards, lauded for organizing and collaborating to produce measureable improvements in the organizations service to the community served.
4. What ideas do you have for helping the station and the Pacifica Foundation meet the financial challenges currently being faced?
  As the station proactively improves community support, internal structure and use of funds, effective use of its facilities and resources will shift to bring funding income. My experience in fundraising, event planning and organizational management should be an asset to KPFK's board.
