Irene Adams – WPFW – Candidate for PNB Station Listener Representative

I am Anita Irene Adams, running for election as the PNB Listener Representative from WPFW,
As a WPFW Local Station Board member and past PNB Director, I have worked on programming, finance and audit committees focusing on financial sustainability, fundraising, development, and community outreach. WPFW has built a powerful, proven model: our signature “Jazz and Justice” programming blends our uncompromising coverage of the pivotal movements happening right in our nation’s capital and across the country with our popular, iconic evening, late night and early morning jazz programs which deeply connect us to the rich heritage and jazz culture in our area.

From our live, on-the-ground reporting of D.C. protests to exposing how devastating federal spending cuts directly affect vulnerable communities across the country, WPFW proves that local action drives national impact. My priority on the National Board is to carry WPFW’s specific successes to the rest of the Pacifica network. By building our collaborative national news response team with WPFW news producers here in Washington, D.C., we can share our vital, frontline political coverage directly with all of our Pacifica stations and 200+ affiliates. Furthermore, we must expand and share WPFW’s winning social media news and music successes with all sister stations to boost visibility and attract the next generation of listeners.

To achieve this national collaboration, board members must embrace uncompromising fiscal responsibility. I strongly support bringing Pacifica into compliance through skilled accounting and responsible budgeting so we have the financial foundation to aggressively increase membership, write vital community grants, and host revenue-generating events. Let’s find our common ground and work together to build a unified, sustainable network through true cross-station teamwork.

Please vote for me Anita Irene Adams for PNB Station Rep and Minerva Sanders for PNB Vice Chair from WPFW to help keep families safe and informed in these challenging times.
