Listener Candidate for the KPFA Local Station Board
Statement
KPFA LSB Candidate Statement
Vicente Cruz

I have been a listener of KPFA since 1989 and my dial has never been anywhere else. If elected, non-violent communication will be at the front of my mind. Along with advocating for a shift in fundraising tactics by, taking the road of larger amounts of smaller donations to fill the gap. We can also help KPFA by starting to shift to a more radical program model. Through supporting the people that are most affected by the struggles that KPFA reports on and opening the discussion to all, we can create a funding model that is actually sustainable for the long-term.

If I am elected, there would be a voice that will fully represent Oakland's Fruitvale community and an advocate that walks with a wide range of people active in community radio. I would amplify their voices on the Local Station Board. It is important to devote the time and energy to the KPFA LSB and the responsibility is real.

I've been a youth sports educator for twenty plus years (preschool thru middle school), a self-identified Anarchist, and event an production coordinator specializing in video & lighting. I'm currently a senior producer with Step On It Presents, and the Treasurer for the Oakland Greens.

Words are not enough to express my appreciation to you for reading this statement and I think, if elected, I would be a member you would respect and who would work for you.
