Answers to Candidate Questionnaire
1. What experience, connections, skills or traits would you bring to the local station board to advance the station's mission?
As a 45 year veteran broadcaster, content expert, curator and manager of radio stations that include XM Satellite Radio, and stations in Washington, DC New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Cincinnati and other markets, I believe I could bring a unique perspective to the board
2. What do you appreciate and value in the station's current operations?
I have enjoyed listening to and viewing the innovative Live At 5 series which highlights artists from the area. I have also enjoyed the long form talk programming and the very progressive Pacifica point of view which can't be heard on any other station in the city or area.
3. What would you like to see improved or changed in the station's current operations?
I don't know enough about the stations current operations to comment at this time.
4. Describe what you anticipate would be your top three priorities or areas of focus if you were elected to the local station board.
I would listen and make recommendations based on the needs of the station, staff and listeners.
5. Sustainability is an important part of any nonprofit operation. What are your thoughts on how the board can help to improve the station's financial footing?
I'm not sure what the stations revenue and expense structure is, but I'd be glad to offer my input once I have more information.
6. Is there anything else you would like prospective voters to know?
WPFW is a heritage radio station that is an important part of the community. I would like to see it have more of an overall digital and marketing footprint so that more people could enjoy it's unique programming. More listeners mean more revenue/sponsorships in my mind.
