I, DeWayne Lark, am asking for your vote to the KPFT LSB. I have held several leadership positions – Vice Chair of the PNB and Chair and Vice Chair of the KPFT LSB. I have served on most of the LSB committees. I am currently a PNB director representing KPFT. While the Foundation has had serious financial obligations, considerable improvements were made while I was Vice Chair of the Pacifica National Board 2019-2020. Currently there is no plan in place to repay the loan. I have been asking for a plan to address this looming debt. If elected I will continue to advocate for more transparency and be the voice of accountability. By not addressing fundraising, the PNB is placing the Foundation at grave financial risk. Vote for me and allow me to be a leader moving the Foundation towards more fiscal responsibility and transparency.
KPFT LSB needs to represent the diversity of views and opinions in order to reflect the communities it serves. Diversity includes ethnicity, gender, language, and culture. My goals have been to be the voice for the voiceless, to represent the underrepresented, and to extract the most and best out of the least. Why? Because I stand with those who are working to strengthen the Foundation, not break it up. I stand with those who are committed to a stronger Pacifica, not a fragmented one where each station is on its own. I align myself with those who are working for a debt free Pacifica. There are those who want to reduce the number of delegates, by doing so it will surely reduce the limited diversity that currently exist. There are two diverse groups on the KPFT LSB – one wants to break up the Foundation as we know it, evidenced by those who voted yes for the most immediate referendum. That is what the referendum vote was about. The other, which I support, seeks to strengthen the current governance structure, not destroy it. If you share these values, please vote for me to continue representing and working towards these shared goals and vision.
I am committed to the mission of the Foundation and to community radio. I have demonstrated my love and commitment to KPFT by donating countless hours and days to the organization both locally and nationally. I serve on the KPFT LSB Finance Committee and the KPFT Management and Selection Review Committee. In the last several years I have personally raised thousands of dollars for KPFT. My love affair with KPFT began as a young listener many years ago. I’m still in love with radio and KPFT.
This is the most critical time in KPFT’s long history. We are in a crisis, but the majority on the KPFT LSB does not govern as though we are in a financial crisis. The building is burning but the majority are standing around looking at the fire instead of trying to extinguish it.
I am DeWayne Lark and I am asking for your vote.
