Listener Candidate for the KPFA Local Station Board
I am the founder of the International School for Qabalistic Tarot and Tree of Life Study in 1975 and have been living, studying, consulting with, and teaching these subjects for 50 years. As a practical mystic (so-named by my students), I am dedicated to integrating the teachings of the non-sexist, non-racist, non-homophobic Qabalah into my daily life and encouraging my students to do likewise.

I am the author of several books including: "Living the Qabalistic Tarot," "Principles of Qabalah," "Tarot for Dummies, and a children's book on the topic of divorce and separation,"Silas and the Mad-Sad People..

My spare time is dedicated to sociopolitical and environmental activism, I.E. The Peace Movement, and the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., since the 1960s. More recently: Code Pink Women for Peace, Occupy, Raging Grannies, Greens, No Nukes, and Greenpeace. Worked for George McGovern. Also worked for Bernie Sanders in 2016 and 2020. Was basically told to leave San Jose Demo Convention in 2016 because I wanted to be a Sanders rep at the National Convention.

Answers to Candidate Questionnaire
1. What experience, connections, skills or traits would you bring to the local station board to advance the station's mission?
Have been a listener of KPFA, WBAI, KUSP (latter no longer on air), and like community-oriented resources for decades.
I am an ideas person. I would like to see the station add shows to attract more of the community, especially young listeners. (That is rather than replaying some shows twice daily, adding new shows.) Perhaps some of the following might fly:
1. At the suggestion of a young friend a sociopolitically, environmentally oriented quiz show for kids.
2. More music, particularly Hip-Hop the likes of KRS1, Boots Riley, etc
Holding a contest to create a 21st-century station theme?
3. Poetry show.
3. Indigenous Peoples show with interviews, stories, and music
4. Add some young programmers-my son had a Hip Hop show on KUSP from age 15 to 21 and got school credit for it.
2. What do you appreciate and value in the station's current operations?
KPFA aims at telling more of the Truth about what's going on in the world than the bought and paid for, mainstream media. Broadcasting this information to those who have the ears to hear, helps to build the critical mass for improving civilization and life for creatures great and small on planet earth.
3. What would you like to see improved or changed in the station's current operations?
I am an ardent supporter of RESCUE PACIFICA. I would like to help facilitate better inter-personal relationships and communication That is to stop the in-fighting and bring forth peaceful co-existence. As I understand it, New Day's election agenda is, IMO both illegal and redundant as this issue was resolved in last year's election! We did not allow Trump to prevail after he lost the 2020 election. Where does New Day come off to keep pushing their agenda despite losing?
4. Describe what you anticipate would be your top three priorities or areas of focus if you were elected to the local station board.
  1. Improving communication and within and without. I have called the station numerous times over the years and have rarely received a call-back. I have also written to programmers with feedback and have not received a response. 2. The addition of outside activities in which listeners and staff could both participate and mix-especially now that COVID is waining. 3.Implementing new and improved fund-raising strategies.
5. Sustainability is an important part of any nonprofit operation. What are your thoughts on how the board can help to improve the station's financial footing?
Perhaps having listeners donate goods and services and have the station auction these off. (KUSP did this regularly and I regularly donated and worked.)
6. Is there anything else you would like prospective voters to know?
As a teacher and facilitator, I have good communication skills, including NVC training. I welcome the opportunity to work with others for the betterment and upliftment of our community and world and planet through KPFA. Thank you for reading this and considering my candidacy and further participation.
