Listener Candidate for the WBAI Local Station Board
Statement
My name is Harriet Hines, I am running to be on the Board of WBAI 99.5FM. I have received a fine education from Midwood HS at Brooklyn College, BA in Psychology at Brooklyn College, and an MS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Purdue University. These experiences served as a foundation to pique my intertest in Greassroots Community Activism in various areas of Brooklyn, such as: (East New York, Clinton Hills, and Flatbush, Brooklyn). While spearheading various initiatives and functioning in Executive capacities, I have learned the skills of being an effective leader. Being able to relate to communities with 1) Identifying concerns; 2) Empathizing; 3) Thinking critically, and to; 4) Act on providing viable solutions. This design serves as the catalyst of my strengths.

Should you decide to cast your vote for me, I can assure you that it will be a vote well cast. I commit to addressing and resolving issues that plague; both the disabled and non-disabled marginalized communities of WBAI listeners. When I ran for City Council District 40 in June 2021, my platforms were to mke: 1) Brooklyn Accessible for ALL; 2) Healthcare Accessible for ALL; 3) Criminal Justice Reform for ALL; 4) Quality and Accessible Education for ALL; and 5) True Affordable Housing for ALL; while addressing Development and its effects on residential homeowners. Due to the recent uptick with Gun Violence and being affected by it personally, I have now joined the fight against it.

Acknowledgment and actions of taking corrective measures to resolve these issues, will prove fruitful for a productive change in the quality of life as weknow it. A change that is desperately needed in the populations that we service at WBAI.

With this, there is no doubt that I am the best candidate. The concerns of communities take precedent over the purse of the rich and privileged that directly benefit from current policies and legislation, suppressing the voices of the underrepresented. Just look at society and make your own inferences. Don't take my word for it!
