Staff Candidate for the KPFK Local Station Board
Statement
My name is Rodrigo Argueta, programmer and staff candidate. member of KPFK since 1988 and radio producer for about 20 years.
I have vast experience working with all communities here in the USA and south the border, specially Mexico and Central America. we as part of the organizations we belong to, have done countless events to promote KPFK, rock concerts, immigration seminars, grassroots event, organizing against police brutality, boycotting dryscoll , strawberries, company that is destroying or environment ad causing droughts everywhere they go.we also support all movements for life and for human rights, indigenous, peasants, students and any struggle that aims for equality.
the struggle we all face to improve our conditions as the working class of any race requires building a strong revolutionary movement, organized, disciplined, with a clear political view and a strong philosophy. The information and the voices we present to our listeners and the way we do it, is fundamental to always have critical thinkers in our society. I'm also part of the Spanish Language association of KPFK, an organization that achieved incrementing the hours of programming in Spanish in KPFK.

Trabajo de programador desde hace 20 años en KPFK, contribuimos a desarrollar una conciencia critica y a enpoderar a nuestras comunidadades con informacion y voces desde la perspectiva de clase, es decir de aquell@s que generan la riqueza de nuestras comunidades, creo en la disciplina, la organizacion y la claridad politica para construir un mundo sin clases, sin racismo y sin pobreza. trabajamos por los derechos de los migrantes, las comunidade indigensa, contra la brutalidad poliiaca y por todos los derechos humanos. en nuestro programas tiene cabida tod@s aquell@s que luchan por un mundo con igualdad de condiciones para todos. Form parte de la asociacion de productores de KPFK,organizacion que logra incrementar la programacion en Español en KPFK.

1. What experience, connections, skills or traits would you bring to the local station board to advance the station's mission?
  I have been part of the LSB- Local station Board and I have also been at the PNB, I work for over 30 years with many organizations promoting the unity and the struggle for human rights, as our mission states we are always building bridges among the different racial expressions and the class to understand that we are not enemies and that the state is always working to separate us, we must be always more inclusive asking those human expressions that are still not part of our radio to join us and become stronger because we have the same dream, one day a society with out social pain, a future where all human be equal. weather this new society can be called socialist, communist or a society based in our true indigenous legacy
2. What do you appreciate and value in the station's current operations?
  volunteer work, freedom of speech, community radio
3. What would you like to see improved or changed in the station's current operations?
  the way we raise funds, more inclusive and new voices
4. Describe what you anticipate would be your top three priorities or areas of focus if you were elected to the local station board.
  1. improve and diversify the way we raise funds
2. Develop a strategy to reach our communities specially the Mexican, Central and South America since we work more withe Spanish speaking communities
3. working with the programming committee to improve the way we deliver our programs and working with management to improve programming and inclusion in general
5. Sustainability is an important part of any nonprofit operation. What are your thoughts on how the board can help to improve the station's financial footing?
  1. improve and diversify the way we raise funds.
develop a short, medium and long term strategy of events, music, political, theater, human right advocates,revolutionary voices from the front lines etc, that way we support the movement and at the same time we raise more funds.
2. Develop a strategy to reach our communities specially the Mexican, Central and South America since we work more withe Spanish speaking communities.
by being more inclusive we can return to access to the funds provide b the CPB
3. working with the programming committee to improve the way we deliver our programs and working with management to improve programming and inclusion in general.
in other words we must develop a more inclusive system to have more collectives producing rather that individuals, collectives means more organization, organization means more outreach, more outreach naturally will bring more money.
6. Is there anything else you would like prospective voters to know?
  if you vote for me, you are voting with someone who is the movement for a better world, someone who believes there is always room to improve, Im part of the Zapatistas dream, a world where many worlds can fit, obey the voice of the people because the voice of the people s the voice of our ancestors and their legacy.
