I am an African American and Japanese activist/academic and have been a loyal KPFA listener (regular minor donor) for many years. A few years back, I also became a volunteer producer/host of Women’s Magazine. We four--Lisa Dettmer, Vylma Ortiz, Jovelyn Richard and I--formed the WM Collective. Our goal is to offer accessible (in various ways including linguistic, theoretical, and conceptual) feminist programming. In March 2020 and 2021, I was executive producer International Women’s Day of 24-hour programming. My special interest, focus, and expertise are transnational feminism and feminist issues, with goal of connecting the “foreign” (international) and the “domestic” (US) perspectives broadcasting voices of women and gender expansive folks US audiences do not hear.
