Hello KPFA listeners. Thanks for being supporters of KPFA radio. I am currently the treasurer of the KPFA Local Station Board. As treasurer I attend Pacifica National Finance Committee meetings to review Pacifica’s finances. Many of you know that Pacifica’s finances are not great. I believe that truthful reporting of the financial facts is crucial to the survival of Pacifica. One true fact is that the Pacifica station, WBAI, owes Pacifica over $8 million. This is shown on Pacifica’s audited financial records, located at www.pacifica.org. Some within Pacifica seek to ignore this financial fact. Another fact is that KPFA has been the financial backbone of Pacifica for many years. If I am re-elected I will continue to speak the truth about the finances of Pacifica, and I will work for better accountability from stations that are a financial drain on Pacifica.
