My name is Adriana Casenave, I ask for your vote to the KPFT Local Station Board.
The KPFT 2018 Committee of Inclusion Report noted the serious lack of diversity in KPFT’s programming as the cause of declining membership and revenues (more than 10,000 members in 2005 to nearly 4,000 in 2018). KPFT is dying because it does not represent the diversity of cultures and opinions of the community it serves.
I served as Director representing KPFT on the Pacifica National Board of Directors.
Since 2014 (my first time on the PNB), I was sued and people attributed spurious intentions to me. My emails and computers were hacked and infected with viruses. I have been ridiculed, disrespected and called bad names, but I believe that almost all of that is the work of a few people (in pursuit of personal gains--"Divide and Conquer" is an ancient tactic).
Character assassination is accomplished by the repetition of “half-truths”, which essentially means that the other half is a lie. Please do not go for it; as late Senator Patrick Moynihan said: “You are entitled to your opinion. But you are not entitled to your own facts”
Since the actual PNB majority seized control of the Pacifica Foundation in February 2017, they took secret loans using as collateral ALL assets of the Pacifica Foundation, including the KPFT building and the Pacifica Radio Archives. The loan is not being paid and there is not plan to pay it. Is the almost $3,300,000 secret loan already sold to a third party?
The finances are kept secret, some Directors are misusing the money entrusted to the Foundation by the membership. Because Auditors have no credible financial information they will produce a "qualified" audit. All the Pacifica Foundation affairs are being conducted in secrecy. The hiring/firing of employees are decided in “back room deals”. Was Maxie Jackson, last Executive Director, secretly fired a few days ago and Grace Aaron became interim ED? Nepotism is rampant.
If you are satisfied with the way KPFT and the Pacifica Foundation are being handled, support the people who make up 75% of today's KPFT LSB, but if you don't want to lose KPFT and Pacifica, choose candidates who are willing to fight Corruption, Secrecy and the lack of Accountability and Transparency.
I promise to stand on the way of the forces that from inside are working to hand this independent media to their wealthy friends in California and to a religious institution in Houston.
If you believe that KPFT should have more Mission oriented programming; more volunteers empowering them instead of alienating them, and must comply with the requirements of the CPB to regain their funding, I request your vote.
I have one Mission, Pacifica’s Mission.
One side, KPFT’s side.
One voice to answer to, KPFT listener’s voice.
One goal, preserve KPFT and the Pacifica Foundation for generations to come.
