David Saltman – WBAI – Candidate for PNB Station Listener Representative

WBAI and Pacifica are not just at a crossroads—they are falling behind.
I’m David Saltman, and I’m running for the Pacifica National Board because the network’s mission is too important to be undermined by financial instability, fragmented strategy, and failure to adapt.

Pacifica was built to challenge corporate and authoritarian agendas. But we are not reaching the audiences we should be, and we are not operating with the coordination or scale our mission demands.

Half-dead survival is not a strategy. Growth is.

I bring the experience to help fix this.

Over more than 50 years, from all around the world, I have produced, written and directed 200+ documentaries, written six books, and created journalism, comedy films, and articles that reach broad audiences. I have worked at CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC and PBS with deep experience in both radio and television. I’ve reported for The New York Times and Rolling Stone and led major award-winning investigative projects.

Pacifica needs a unified national news operation, a serious digital presence, and a clear plan to expand listenership and revenue. Without audience growth, there is no financial future. Without financial stability, there is no mission.
