Pacifica Voting Processes

There will be ten Pacifica Foundation, Inc. Election Ballots:
  • One Listener Ballot for each of the five stations
  • One Staff and Volunteer Team Member Ballot for each of the five stations.

Each of these ballots will include direct member voting options for both Pacifica National Board Directors positions and Local Station Board Candidates.

The Balloting Agent

The Pacifica Foundation, Inc. Nomination Forms and Ballots are sent from and processed by Election Buddy, a company experienced in running secure and reliable elections. They will answer nomination and balloting questions by email at ——-.

Email ballots will be sent by the Pacifica Foundation on August 15th, with the subject line: VOTE in (your station) & Pacifica Election. Make sure to check your spam” or junk” folders for missing emails.

The Pacifica Foundation, Inc. is transitioning to electronic balloting to save money and protect the environment. However, paper ballots can be provided to individual members under special circumstances. To request a paper ballot, please email the National Election Supervisor at NES@pacifica.org.

Voter Ranking and Calculations Systems

When voting for Pacifica National Board Officers, Station Representatives, and Local Station Board Officers, voters can numerically rank their choices; 1 represents their first choice, 2 represents their second choice, etc. The method for counting these votes is called Instant Runoff Voting.

Voters can also rank their choices when voting for the two Staff and Volunteer Team Member Representatives on the Pacifica National Board and the two Staff and Volunteer Team Member Representatives on the Local Station Board. The method for counting these votes is called Single Transferable Voting because it involves candidates running for 2 seats.

Please contact Election Buddy or the NES to request a Ballot for the following circumstances:

  • Your contact information has changed.
  • You donated to more than one station or directly to the Pacifica Foundation, Inc.
  • You donated as a second household member.
