Why is Ian Masters given prime drive time 4 days a week PAID? He should not be on KPFK at all. He demonstrates one sided biases both in his commentary and in the interviews he features. His show frequently has right of center militarists and corporate spokespersons often touting the US government propaganda. Masters’ recent show on Venezuela is full of false statements couched with “it is my understanding”. He clearly has ZERO knowledge in his “understanding” of Venezuela. On KPFK, Master’s is supporting a fascist thug from the far right party who has been trained in insurgency and disruption tactics by the US for the past 10 years and whose paid insurrectionists have committed acts of violence including murder of innocent civilians, attacking school, a hospital and burning over 200 public transport buses. Ian calls president Maduro receiving 67% of the votes in an 8 candidate race “ a dictator”. Jimmy Carter calls their election system the gold standard. Venezuela is more democratic, conducts fairer elections and provides more social services for it’s population than the US. They don’t invade, bomb, torture, massacre, support violent regimes, interfere in other countries’ elections, leave people without medical care, housing or basic food. We DO! Masters spouts off mainstream media points when he has no real information on this and many other subjects. Peoples lives are in the balance. Shameful that one dime of KPFK money goes to Masters as he supports illegal regime change from a democratically elected popular president to a far right fascist thug. Truly disgusting he is on KPFK at all, let alone gets paid for his propaganda. Shouldn’t KPFK have a standard for questioning the mainstream mantras and some measure of truth telling and balance where observable facts are available? Or at minimum interview both sides when a controversy is not clear?

Homelessness – a major issue in Los Angeles. Yet I have to hear some show highlighting an executive director of a Venice nonprofit, one that gets city funding, praise a city councilperson? Where are the voices of unhoused activist people on KPFK? Im not referring to the ones that somehow get housed and can be paraded as success stories of this extremely flawed system.
