Serious Times
These are serious times! Our accessible media landscape is shrinking. MAGA, the right wing and corporate interests are seizing more and more control. Pacifica and its stations are targets!
WE must step uP to maintain OUR KPFK and Pacifica as a bulwark against fascism and the oligarchy that wants to rule over and exploit us!
Let’s Step uP!
I choose to step uP, as a lifetime social activist, to volunteer, to preserve the vital resource that is KPFK! I offer my proven leadership skills, my radio, film, producer, political advisor, board and media experience to serve KPFK’s Local Station Board (LSB) as Vice Chair (VC).
Experienced Leader
Honestly, KPFK meetings are often ‘spirited’. 😉 Therefore, the Chair and VC must have skills to navigate challenging communications. To that, I offer a proven record of respectful listening, problem-solving, and managing diverse individuals/interests in groups. (I am NVC trained). As an example, as 1st Assistant Director (DGA), I collaborate on the Director-Producers-Production-Talent team. I manage Production meetings. I run the set (a whole lotta personalities there! Ha).
Non-Aligned
While I am endorsed this election by the Pacifica Mission Coalition, I was previously endorsed by New Day. But I am independent. I listen to all. My loyalties are solely to KPFK: Free speech, independent voices, community-based democratic processes, what’s best for the community, for the stability of the station, etc. I support longtime Pacifica mission values.
Experience in Radio
Over 40 years of experience in radio. I started at the independent commercial station KERG, owned by Dan Healy (of the Grateful Dead). Then developed an innovative Talk Show (InterActive Radio) on KHSU. Next, I Co-Founded and volunteered for 5 years with the acclaimed, progressive KMUD: On the Board, Personnel, Hiring, Programming, Fundraising, and as Director of Public Relations. I consult+. I developed ‘Excelling as a Radio Talk Show Host/Producer’ workshop. (Offering this pro bono to KPFK).
Local Boy
My life these days is based in California. My office/home is in Santa Monica. (Raised in the SGV).

– A group of youth influencing our platform/programming/offerings.
– Youth representation on the LSB.
– As the go-to station that covers local emergencies with (regular/hourly?) updates.
– Autonomous control and representation of each station.
– Financial independence.
– Collaboration with PNB
– Ranked-choice voting for elections.
– More contemporary relevance.

So…. Let’s roll-up our sleeves, pitch in, and make KPFK a more relevant source for our diverse LA communities!
