I am running for reelection as a KPFA LSB Staff Candidate with Pacifica Forward Candidates.
I am currently a KPFA Staff Director on the Pacifica National Board.
I have previously served terms on the LSB and on the National Board.
I came to KPFA in 2016 through the Apprentice Program.
My KPFA station work as a Volunteer Team Member is currently various administrative projects, particularly working on Registration and training for the national Volunteer Team Roster
My background is in non-profit Human Relations Management, and I have been on the PNB Personnel Committee for several terms. Also, while on the PNB I have chaired the National Finance Committee and serve on the Audit Committee
My goals as an LSB candidate are to:
• Increase membership and revenue through a coordinated program of outreach at public events.
.
• Work with Development Dept on non-listener sources of financial gifts and building donor relationships
• Strengthen commitments with listeners, members and local organizations.
• Grow audiences — especially attracting younger listeners and expanding KPFA’s growing reach in the use of additional digital platforms .
• Provide opportunities for listener feedback to the station.
I want the Local Station Board to promote the fruits of what you the producers, hosts, reporters, board ops, techs, engineers, both staff and Volunteer Team create.
I appreciate the Pacifica Bylaws changes that charge the LSB to build stronger ties with our current and potential listeners and cmmunities.
We need tangible, supportive channels for fund raising and outreach for KPFA by recruiting Listener/member volunteers, increasing the station’s social media network, and distributing significant numbers of outreach materials to increase our audiences. (example: with QR codes to our website)
These are LSB efforts to entice new listeners to come and know and trust our news, analysis and opinions, public affairs and culture.
The new bylaw responsibilities for all LSBs can include, for instance, help with supporting KPFA live music events, to bring together not only listeners but Bay Area musicians with KPFA music producers and hosts.
