Brandi Howell – KPFA – Candidate for LSB Staff Representative

I’m Brandi Howell running for the KPFA LSB Staff Representative with KPFA Protector and Pacifica Forward Candidates.

I have worked on planning and production of KPFA events since 2022 including the KPFA 75th Birthday Celebration with Amy Goodman, author, music, film and donor events.

I have also assisted in the KPFA development department with donor relations and fund drives. Additionally, I have initiated special projects, such as acquiring grant funds to digitize important KPFA audio collections including the Jennifer Stone collection.

I am an experienced audio producer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Much of my documentary work focuses on exploring the little known stories that shaped the urban and counterculture landscapes of 20th century US history. My work can be heard in the award-winning podcast, New Angle Voice, a podcast about pioneering women in American architecture, as well as audio guides produced for MoMA, SFMOMA, and stories for Afropop Worldwide, America’s Test Kitchen, and other museums and public media outlets. In addition to my own production work, since 2012 I have worked with The Kitchen Sisters, the Peabody award winning independent producers who create stories for NPR and other public media. I have also worked with a variety of nonprofit organizations in San Francisco, including The Gladstone Institutes and the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corps. I have a BA Political Science from UC Berkeley and an MA Public Policy from Cal Poly— San Luis Obispo. When not deep in production of my next story, I love digging the crates of my favorite record stores looking for the next hidden audio gems.

I appreciate working with KPFA’s diverse creative staff, volunteers and listeners and look forward to future collaborations on production and events.
